Common Core Standards

Dusting off the blog to ask for help! In my district/state kindergarten is starting the switch from state standards to the common core next year. We use Harcourt Storytown for our reading curriculum and it is aligned to our state standards. Now, I am faced with the task of converting all of the lessons from our state standards to the common core to use in my lesson plans! I did receive a packet of page numbers from Harcourt that align with the common core standards but that is not the way I am required to keep lesson plans and it is not teacher friendly at all. I have googled my eyes out looking for others that have already converted their lessons to the common core. I really don't want to reinvent the wheel! Any one out there know where I can get my hands on the lessons from Harcourt Storytown aligned with the Common Core?????

  1. My district told us today that they are giving us a crosswalk for our reading series to correlate with the common core, but we use houghton mifflin...

  2. I feel your pain! I served on our district math committee to correlate our Next Generation Sunshine State Standards to the new CCSS. It took us two days, and that was nine people. I know that we will get a correlation from our reading department, but we use SRA OpenCourt. Sorry I can't help. :(

  6. Thanks! I am in Florida. I am just trying to save myself hours of work - my district asks that we record the CCSS with every element of the reading program. It was easy before since Harcourt has our old standards printed in the teachers manual. But now I have to convert each element from our old standards to the new CCSS. Once my kindergarten team finishes converting all 5 teacher books we should sell it back to Harcourt!

  9. Hey guys, still working on this? They have a crosswalk out now if you're interested. We're trying to get our school to buy one for each grade rather than US do all the work.... We'd rather spend our time actually teaching!!! Let me know if anyone has seen this and it's useful...Everyday Math has theirs online, and anyone who has adopted it can see it free. C'mon Storytown!

  10. Very disappointed with StoryTown.
Saxon Math sent guides that included Common Cores standards for evey lesson. This should be included for free since we buy their series.
